Pumas and Tigers U16s Victorious at Futures Cup

The Pennine Pumas Girls U16s became the first Pumas team to be crowned champions at the Futures Cup, after putting in an excellent display in their final game against the Wessex Leopards. Going into the game knowing only a win would claim the title, they came out 3-1 winners in an exciting match which included a 30 minute interruption due to a floodlight failure. In the earlier match, Mercia Lynx drew 3-3 with Saxon Tigers meaning they finished second in the pool and Tigers were third.

Tigers were dominant in the Boys U16, winning all three of their pool matches with an impressive goal difference of plus 14. In the final winner takes all match, Tigers showed they were worthy winners of the competition with a 4-0 victory over the Lynx. Earlier in the day, Pumas finished third, winning a Penalty Shoot Out competition against the Leopards 2-0 after the teams finished the pool with the exact same record.  

In the Girls U18, the Saxon Tigers crept into the final, edging a 3-2 win against the Mercia Lynx with two goals in the final five minutes. The Lynx will have a chance to get revenge when the sides meet in tomorrows final, with Leopards taking on Pumas for third place.

Mercia Lynx won the all important game in the Boys U18 competition with a 3-1 victory over Tigers to secure a place in the final. Lynx will take on an in form Leopards side who ended their pool matches with a 100% record, beating Pumas 3-1 meaning Pumas will face Tigers for third place.
