Loughborough on top after Hockey 5s Day 2

Loughborough Students remain the only unbeaten team in the Hockey 5s Championship Men’s Division One after day two at the University of West England in Bristol.

Ed Horler is the top scorer in the Division with 13 goals for Loughborough Students, who hammered Bournville 10-2 before beating Cannock 6-3.

Wimbledon moved up to second in the table thanks to two victories; 6-5 over Old Loughtonians and 11-6 over Southgate. Steven Ebbers has eight goals and Jonny Kinder seven for Wimbledon.

Brooklands Manchester University are level with Wimbledon on points in third spot following their 8-4 win over Doncaster and a 7-3 victory against Cannock. Peter Flanagan has scored nine goals so far for Brooklands.

Old Loughtonians bounced back from their loss to Wimbledon with an 8-7 win over Bournville, while Southgate dropped to fifth despite beating Harleston Magpies 7-5 prior to their loss to Wimbledon.

Men’s Division Two North

Barford Tigers remained unbeaten in Division Two North, but they battled out a dramatic 3-3 draw with second-placed Sheffield Hallam at Cocks Moor Leisure Centre in Birmingham on Sunday.

The Tigers had already beaten Isca 5-3 and went on to win 11-6 over Havering in the penultimate match of the day, before Sheffield Hallam ended Sunday’s games with a 9-7 win over Preston, following on from their 8-4 win against Havering.

Cheltenham notched up 12 goals, beating Preston 6-0 before overcoming Havering 3-1, but they lost to Isca in their final game of the day

Men’s Division Two South

Indian Gymkhana climbed to the top of the Division Two South table thanks to two victories at Fleming Park in Eastleigh on Sunday.

Overnight leaders West Herts only managed to win one of their three matches and dropped to third, while Fareham finished second after beating Trojans, St Albans and Indian Gymkhana.

Earlier in the day Hampstead and Westminster beat St Albans 8-1, but then lost to Indian Gymkhana and could only draw 5-5 with West Herts.

The top three teams from each of the North and South divisions qualify for Division Two which takes place on 31 January & 1 February.
