BUCS seek Small Sided Hockey Manager

Hockey has long established itself as a popular sport of choice for students attending University. It played in equal amounts by both male and female players which makes it a highly sociable sport both on and off the pitch.

As the second largest team sport played within British University College Sport (BUCS) leagues (over 550 men’s and women’s teams) and ever increasing intramural activity, momentum is building to expand playing opportunities to a wider group of students.

British University College Sport are committed, with the support of England Hockey to increase the number of people playing hockey at University. In addition to the eleven a-side version of the game, BUCS are looking to provide further playing opportunities through innovative, small-sided versions of the game.

To support this venture BUCS are seeking a Small Sided Hockey Manager to work with student customers and other key stakeholder groups. As part of this exciting new role the post holder will develop insight into the game, shape the product and deliver a series of pilots and events.

Rich Beer, Development Director for England Hockey said “England Hockey are delighted to support British University College Sport with this innovative and exciting venture. Thousands of people already love playing hockey at University. Increasing the number of ways students can choose to play hockey will definitely help to grow participation.”
