U18 Boys’ Schools Cup Final 

Whitgift faced last year’s winners Repton in the Schools Cup final but it was Whitgift who came away champions winning 2-1. 

Both sides were up for the final but Josh Coniglio converted a penalty corner to put Whitgift on the score sheet first. Repton fought back and Harry Bennett drew his side level from a field goal. It was end to end until the last 5 minutes of the game where Coniglio secured his second to give his side the win and the Cup.

U18 Boys Schools Plate winners 2017

U18 Boys’ Schools Plate Final 

The plate final ended in dramatic fashion with Kings School Chester beating Merchant Taylors on penalty strokes after an exciting 3-3 draw. 

Merchant Taylors were first on the score sheet with Thomas Richards converting a penalty corner but Kings School were quick to react with Daniel Verity beating the keeper making it all level. Kings School quickly furthered their lead by two goals just before half time from Fraser Smellie and Verity, getting his second. 

Merchant Taylors didn’t give up and came out the second half eager to bounce back which is exactly what they did. Firstly a goal from James Seery converting a penalty corner, then the equaliser from George Smith who brought them right back in the game to make it 3-3 on the final whistle. Kings School Chester won the penalty stroke competition 4 -2 to be crowned the U18 Boy’s Schools Plate Winners.
