Your England Hockey Team of the Week!

Team of the Week
Nominations have once again come in from up and down the country as many battled the cold! Thank you once again for all of your fantastic suggestions.

The stories behind those selected include two 14-year olds making a big impression, goalkeeping heroics in a shootout and one striker reaching 34 goals for the season!

Remember to nominate the best performances from your club every weekend by tweeting @EnglandHockey or replying to our Team of the Week posts on Facebook.

Name: Ollie Payne
Club: Durham University
Nomination: Ollie helped Durham University to win BUCS Gold with Durham University in the week making a number of world class saves during the game, and then three saves in the shootout!

Name: Shireen (Shiz)
Club: Old Southendians Ladies 2nd XI
Despite standing still long enough to get pooped on by a bird, Shireen ensured her side were all working at 101% whilst pushing herself even further. Shiz bossed the back with her sweeping, ensuring our keeper had very little to do despite our opponents pushing hard. Described as 'bionic' by the opposition after pinching the ball out of the air whilst defending a short, there's no doubt that without Shiz, our game would have been much harder.

Name: Charlotte Bee
Club: Alford and District
Nomination: All season Charlotte has put in 100% effort and been solid as centre defence. Well deserved player of the match this weekend for her club.

Name: Anna McCabe
Club: Kingsbridge and Salcombe Hockey Club
Nomination: Anna had an awesome game at centre back today, picking up player of the match by a landslide vote. Immense tackling and distribution throughout.

Name: Ella Godfrey
Club: Amersham & Chalfont
Nomination: Ella is an inspirational young lady. At only 16, she inspired and moved the entire team before their game on Saturday with an unexpected speech about how important her team was to her in her life. She had a fantastic game and at only 16 truly inspired her team with her confidence, maturity and team spirit, so much so that the team have created the hashtag #BeMoreElla

Name: Ben Sharp
Club: Clifton Robinsons
Nomination: Ben was a class above anyone else securing National Final status for his U14 side despite a heavily depleted team #FutureEnglandPlayer

Name: Olivia Ellard
Club: Plym Valley LHC and Lipson Lions JHC
Nomination: Olivia dedicated over 3 hours umpiring in the rain for the Lipson Lions U12s then U14s tournaments. She then got up to captain Plym Valleys 2nd team, they went on to all have a fantastic game winning 3-2 and one of the goals was an awesome tap in from Olivia. She's dedicated to Hockey and the club's in every way possible!

Name: Charlotte Toms
Club: Gosport Ladies 1st XI
Nomination: At 14 years old and being selected to play for the ladies ones for the first time Charlotte more than held her own in central midfield throughout the game. She pushed forward, broke through the defence and swept the ball home scoring the winning goal for the team. Such maturity and composure the future is definitely exciting for this young lady.

Name: Ben Giardelli
Club: Oxton Hockey Club
Nomination: Ben made his first team debut in the Northern Premier League in a 2-1 away win at Sheffield Bankers yesterday, scoring the opening goal with his first touch on his 16th birthday!

Name: Sam Dixon
Club: Belper Hockey Club
Nomination: Sam scored all 3 goals in their match, the result secured winning the league and promotion to the National League, he's also Belper's top scorer with 34 goals this season.

Name: Emma Brown
Club: Morpeth Ladies
Nomination: Emma was player of the match and instrumental in her side’s 5-3 win which confirmed their survival! She scored a hat-trick inside seven minutes of the match starting and added another two before full-time!
