Masters World Cup

Whilst the action continued at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, England Masters teams were in action at the Masters World Cup in Terrassa, Spain.

England were represented in every age group - Men's and Women's Over 35s, Over 40s, Over 45s, Over 50s and Over 55s. The Women's Over 60s played in an invitational tournament.

Four teams won gold, Women's Over 35s and Over 55s and Men's Over 40s and Over 55s. In addition the Women's Over 60s also were victorious. 

England's Over 35 Women were undefeated in the pool stage before beating Australia in the final 1-0. Joanne Ellis leading the way with five goals.

The Over 55 Women also beat Australia in their final. It was 1-1 in normal time before England were victorious in the shootout winning 3-0.

The Over 60 Women won all four matches in their pool before defeating Australia 4-1 in the final. Susan Merry netting nine goals and was top scorer in tournament.
 
The Men's Over 40s came second in the pool behind Spain on goal difference drawing 2-2 in their pool match. However in the final they played out a 3-2 thriller which England edged.

The Men's Over 55s beat Germany 3-0 in their final with Richard Purchase top scorer for the tournament with 6 goals.

There were medals also for the Men's O35s (Silver) and O45s (Bronze) while the women's O40s won bronze, O45s took silver and O50s landed bronze.
