Team of the Week: Round 12

Team of the Week
Nominations have again come in from up and down the country in the club world from teams in the north, south, east and west!

Every weekend teams can nominate their standout performers from all levels of the game for England Hockey's Team of the Week.

This week's XI includes maiden goals, defensive stalwarts and an unbeaten run stretching back nearly four years!

This is our last team before Christmas but we'll be back next year!

TOTW 2018/19 Round 12


Name: Charlotte Ramsay
Club: Duchy HC
Nomination: Charlotte picked up her sixth clean sheet in 11 games in a 3-0 win against Plymouth. The game was balanced at 1-0 for a long while with Charlotte keeping Duchy in control with a really strong performance.


Name: Ben Hayward
Club: City of Portsmouth HC
Nomination: 11 games played, 11 games bossing it at right back. Ben works hard and is consistent! 

Name: Andrew Barton
Club: Woking HC
Nomination: Andrew was responsible for countless crucial saves and clearances that kept Slough’s tally to three as Woking won 4-3! Andrew’s meteoric rise to the 1st XI has been one of pure passion, commitment and dedication having been in the 3rd XI only two seasons ago. The win meant more to Andrew than anyone else and he led the celebrations into Saturday evening! 

Name: Bryn Webber
Club: Southampton HC
Nomination: An absolute stalwart and captain of our Men's 1st XI. Yet another solid performance in defence. Capped off by scoring the only goal - and his first for a good few years - against Gillingham HC (Dorset). 


Name: Susanne Garth
Club: Longridge HC
Nomination: Susanne scored two crackers in a 5-1 victory over Liverpool Uni from right midfield!

Name: Nicola Edwards
Club: Newcastle HC
Nomination: Nicola won a great turnover in midfield then lead a counter attack which ended with her sweeping the ball into the net for the only goal in their England Hockey National Trophy match vs Harrogate. Lead from the front throughout!

Name: Eddie Westacott
Club: Maidenhead HC
Nomination: Eddie led the ladies 1st XI to their first win of the season with a brace at Reading, also earning many player of the match votes!


Name: Emily Gilkes-Tarsey
Club: Havering HC
Nomination: Emily scored a hat-trick for Havering’s second win of the season beating Redbridge & Ilford 7-1.

Name: Layla Webb
Club: Wilmslow HC
Nomination: Layla scored her first ever goals for the club in Wilmslow’s 3-2 win over local rivals Alderley Edge. “Best game ever!”

Name: Lisa-Emma Crewe
Club: Pendle Forest HC
Nomination: Lisa-Emma scored one and claimed two assists in a 4-1 victory against Doncaster to go into the Christmas break top of their league. They remain unbeaten this season and in 86 league games dating back to January 2015.

Name: Luke Smith
Club: Rochford HC 
Nomination: Luke scored six goals in a thrilling 16-0 win. This took Luke’s tally to 19 for the season so far.
