Futures Cup: Day 2 round-up
Boys U15s competition:
FC U15B Pumas 2 0 Lynx
Pennine Pumas earned a 2-0 victory over Mercia Lynx in the first match of the second day of Futures Cup action.

Hari Bhogal opened the scoring after just minutes into the game whilst Marshall Buchanan notched the winner with only five minutes remaining.

The Pumas were grateful for the second goal having finished the game two players short thanks to two yellow cards inside the last three minutes.

FC U15B Cougars Tigers

The second U15s Boys match of the day saw Caledonian Cougars and Saxon Tigers play out a high scoring, physical match.

Though the Tigers began well, taking a 2-0 lead thanks to Luke Holland and Walter Forsey, their lead was halved going into half-time as Caledonian Cougars scored just before the whistle through Alastair Douglas.

But a revitalised Cougars team swept in four unanswered second-half goals through Joel Davenport, David Macrae, Sam Knight and a Cameron Ede brace in a match that saw five yellow cards shown between the two sides.


Girls U15s competition: 
FC U15G Cougars
Caledonian Cougars topped Mercia Lynx 3-1 in the opening game of the day.

Ava Smith bagged a brace with goals either side of half-time whilst Jessica Barr also got in on the act to put the Cougars three goals to the good.

Though Lily Johnson got one back for Mercia Lynx, it was only to be a consolation as Caledonian Cougars held on to their advantage.

FC U15G Pumas

Pennine Pumas earned a convincing 5-1 victory over Celtic Jaguars with a four-goal frenzy in the third quarter proving pivotal.

It was level at half-time with Tilly O’Brien opening the scoring for the Pumas before Lucy Greenwood levelled it up just before the interval.

However, the next 15 minutes totally shifted the course of the match as O’Brien bagged two more to complete her hattrick whilst Miranda Jackson and Harriet Barker also got on the scoresheet to secure an emphatic victory.

Boys U17s competition:
FC U17B Cougars
The first U17s Boys match of the day proved to be an absolute thriller for the on-watching spectators as Caledonian Cougars beat Mercia Lynx 8-4.

Cougars’ Fraser Moran set the tone with an early goal in a match with lots of attacking action. Seven second-quarter goals went flying in, five of which went the way of the Cougars as Alex Wilson, Struan Walker, Jake Inglis, Jacob Tweedie and Ciaran Wilcox struck whilst Josh Brown and Max Anderson’s efforts kept Mercia in the game.

The Lynxes were trying to claw some goals back with Freddie Smith recording a quick brace and withdrew the ‘keeper with time running out. However, they were to be further punished as Walker completed his hattrick with two goals in the final two minutes of the game.

FC U17B Pumas

Pennine Pumas then bagged a 2-0 victory over Celtic Jaguars in the final Boys match of the day.

Oliver Manson put the team ahead from a penalty corner just before half-time before Alfie Weaver’s strike two minutes from time cemented the team’s position and the victory as the opposition picked up three yellow cards.

FC U17B Pumas

Girls U17s competition:
Pennine Pumas came out on top over Celtic Jaguars in the first U17s Girls match of the day as they recorded a 2-0 victory.

Rebecca Malyon put the Pumas ahead with less than five minutes on the clock to settle the team from the outset.

The lead was doubled just after half-time as Rebecca Walker made the Jaguars pay from a penalty corner to secure a clean sweep for the Pumas who won their games in all age groups.

FC U17G Tie

The final match of the day saw two evenly sides meet in Caledonian Cougars and Wessex Leopards as the teams played out a 1-1 draw, the first tie of the competition.

It was a game that was decided late on, Faith Joubert giving the Cougars the lead with little over 15 minutes remaining before Emily Harris pulled one back with just over five minutes on the clock as the Leopards snatched a draw.
