Golden Jackson Secures Place in the Final

An Ashley Jackson golden goal 45 seconds from the end of extra time sealed a 2-1 win for England over the Netherlands and puts England into Sunday's final for the first time in 22 years.

Surbiton's James Tindall had given England a half time lead with a good reverse stick effort on 31 minutes but Teun de Nooijer scored the equaliser 14 minutes into the second half after a series of Dutch penalty corners.

With no further goals the game went to golden goal extra time and with England bossing play it was just reward for their efforts when Simon Mantell cut inside from the baseline to play the ball across to the waiting Jackson.

The HGC midfielder's goal came just 45 seconds from time and the lottery of penalty strokes.

England will face World and Olympic Champions Germany in the final on Sunday.  The two sides have already met in the tournament when a fantastic match finished 4-4 in Pool A last Monday.
