Futures Cup Online and on Twitter

The England Hockey Futures Cup gets underway at Cannock HC on Thursday as 288 young athletes take part in the final tournament of their Junior Regional Performance Centre activity.

Pennine Pumas (black) take on the Wessex Leopards (blue) in the U16 girls competition at the England Hockey Futures Cup at Cannock HC, 2 November 2008The culmination of weeks of development training, competition and selection, the Futures Cup aims to give players in the U16 and U18 age groups first-hand experience of an international tournament environment in preparation for potential future involvement in a National Age Group Squad (NAGS).

Over the course of the four days interested followers can stay up to date with all of the goings on via the England Hockey website at www.englandhockey.co.uk/futurescup where results, tables and match reports will be updated throughout the tournament.

The U18s start on Thursday as they commence three days of round robin competition followed by classification matches on the fourth day.  The U16 age group begin on Friday and will play a round robin competition over three days.

The Futures Cup runs from Thursday 28 October until Sunday 1 November.
