Current Vacancies


England Hockey (EH) is the National Governing Body for the sport of hockey in England and is also responsible for the commercial and performance affairs of Great Britain Hockey.  It leads the management and development of the sport from the grassroots to the international teams, which compete in the Olympics.   Hockey across the country has been on an upward trajectory for the last decade and EH is on track to double participation.  With the innovative new FIH Pro League bringing thousands of new spectators and a step change in broadcast, this is an amazing time to join one of the fastest growing team sports in the UK and continue to build on our international success in Rio and London Olympics.   

The Chief Executive is the operational lead of the organisation with the current focus on the delivery of its five ambitions within the strategic plan:

  • Growth in participation - double the number of club players from 140,000 to 280,000
  • International success - systemically and consistently become Top 3 in the world in both genders
  • Increased visibility - triple our fan base and have 180 hours of live TV coverage
  • Develop hockey's infrastructure - ensuring it is fit for the purpose of driving our objectives
  • Be proud and respected custodians of hockey - enhancing the reputation of hockey whilst becoming financially independent

We are looking for someone with Board level experience, who has a track record of leading a professional, high quality, innovative customer-focused team. The successful candidate will have proven capability in business management and be an excellent communicator who can quickly establish trust and credibility, and influence and engage with a wide and complex network of stakeholders domestically and internationally. The CE needs to be execution orientated, able to translate strategy into operational delivery, and show a real passion for success. Ideally, the individual will have a strong understanding of working in a membership organisation with knowledge of the sport system and its political context applicable in the UK.
