leadership header
Great leadership is about having the right people in the decision-making positions. These people will have the good of the whole club in mind and will be prepared to make sound long-term decisions. They will be accountable for the governance of the club (finances and policies) but also seek to lead in a way that supports the vision and values of the club. The best leaders seek to lead the club by engaging people in decisions and encouraging new people to get involved.
Club AGM Guidance

The end of season is the time when most Clubs and Associations hold their AGMs.  In light of the Government direction with regards to ‘lockdown’, many AGMs will be unable to proceed so we have put together some documents to help guide Clubs and Associations put together contingency plans. These include guidance on how to refer to your Articles of Association and tips from Sport England on how to hold virtual meetings . You can find out more information by following the links to the documents below:

The best clubs aim to give every player the best experience of our sport.  Those that do have more, better, happier players in a sustainable club environment. The information provided in our What Makes a Great Club guidance forms part of a range of tools and resources which are available to support our clubs.

England Hockey ClubMark is designed to set a minimum operating standard for clubs to achieve and ensure that the appropriate risk assessments policies and procedures are in place. The ClubMark process has been structured to make it easy to follow, ensuring that the criteria is relevant to all clubs. There are 18 statements to complete, each designed to ensure that your club is meeting the safe requirements and best practice.  This process is more streamlined than ever and hopefully a useful tool for your club.

We know that many clubs will already be meeting the ClubMark standard and in some cases going above and beyond the minimum requirement.
