This award is suitable for young people of over 13 years and all adults with limited experience of hockey. This highly popular Award can be delivered in schools and club and can also be attained as a module within the England Hockey Leadership Award.
About the Award
The Foundation Umpire Award (FUA) is designed for young students or inexperienced club players who want to learn about the skills of umpiring and have a basic introduction to the Rules of Hockey. It is an enjoyable, inter-active course involving three sessions totaling three hours and based around classroom and pitch based activity. It focuses on 11 a-side hockey (not Mini Hockey). The Award is not intended to provide ‘qualification’ into senior competitive hockey match umpiring (Umpires intending to participate in competitive hockey are advised to do the England Hockey Level 1 Umpire Award.)
Courses are set up for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 participants.
Who can tutor the Award?
The FUA can be tutored by teachers HDOs, suitably experienced umpires or umpire coaches.
