The Single System Syllabus outline and first set of coaching resources were launched via five regional evenings in February/March 2009.
John Bell (Centrally Contracted Coach) and Roger Newcombe (GB Goalkeeper Coach) led the evenings which were introduced by Jane Powell, Performance Coaching Manager and Steve Floyd, National Manager for the Regional Network.
During the evenings John – who was responsible for writing the JDC/JAC Coaching Pack – led discussion and practical sessions on the use of the pack in planning coaching sessions at Junior Development and Junior Academy Centres. Roger gave a presentation on the principles of introducing goalkeeper coaching at the various levels.
England Hockey is giving two copies of the pack to each County Hockey Association or County Hockey Development Group for each Junior Academy Centre in the country and two copies to each of the 12 new Junior Regional Performance Centres. Information concerning this can be supplied by the England Hockey Regional Offices.
The resource includes a 28-page booklet which supports the accompanying DVD. There are also 11 double-sided A6 coaching cards plus two A6 dry-wipe cards, one with a full-pitch displayed and one with half a pitch. A dry-wipe pen completes the set.
