Match Report

SPAIN U18 0 (0) - (0) 0 ENGLAND U16

After the win yesterday England approached the game with great confidence and a desire to build on the result.

England knew Spain would raise their game and they started strongly putting the visitors under considerable pressure from the start.

Again, good defending both individually and as a team kept Spain at bay and a good reflex save by keeper Sarah Mansfield from a deflected shot, kept the goal in tact after a period of considerable pressure.

The second half saw England raise their game. England retained possession much more effectively, making the Spanish chase the ball and get frustrated.

England passed the ball well to create a number of scoring opportunities but were just thwarted by last ditch defending by the Spanish defence. Spain created a couple of chances of there own but England had the lions share of possession and today it was Spain having to defend stoutly to keep us at bay.

At the final whistle England were a little disappointed not to have scraped a win but overall happy with their performance against an older Spanish side.
