Note. The nature of this role could require attendance during evenings, at weekend and bank holidays. Students must also attend MSc lectures, either online (for the distance education course) or in-person at StoneX Stadium, London, NW4 1RL (for on-campus course).


Tuition Fee Sponsorship for MSc Sport Performance Analysis on Campus or Distance Education versions (£9,600/£10,500), co-funded by England Hockey and Middlesex University.
Eligibility:Students must be eligible for UK tuition fees. Overseas students will be considered but the Bursary is up to a maximum of the UK tuition fees stated above.
Contract:Fixed term 01/10/2022 – 30/09/2023


Great Britain & England Hockey are partnering with Middlesex University to offer an applied MSc Sport Performance Analysis studentship opportunity, to work under the guidance of the Data & Insight Lead at Great Britain & England Hockey

This studentship will provide the successful applicant with a unique opportunity to develop their technical and non-technical skills in an elite applied setting, whilst completing their MSc Sport Performance Analysis on a full-time basis. The contact time with GB/ENG Hockey will be a minimum of 3 days a week, with the MSc taught component typically being on a Wednesday, either online (for the distance education course) or in-person at StoneX Stadium, London, NW4 1RL (for on-campus course).

The applied aspect will enable the student to gain industry experience, with the opportunity to work across both the male and female Senior squads and potentially our Elite Development Programmes, providing a well-rounded experience for the successful candidate(s).

With the Paris Olympics around the corner, there’s never been a more exciting time to gain experience in a world leading Olympic programme.

Key tasks:

Working closely with the Senior Analysts the successful candidate(s) will provide support across several core analysis areas, including but not limited to:

  • Capture and prepare data and video pre, during and post training and competition to support coaches, athletes, and wider MDT practitioners.
  • Support in training provision and video database management of both Senior programmes at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.
  • Support coaches and athletes with the effective use of video and visual feedback in training and competition, whilst maintaining HUDL online video libraries.
  • Support the analysis department with bespoke performance analysis projects as directed. Subject to approval, the successful candidate(s) will be able to use any data they collect for the use of their MSc dissertation or required research projects.

Committed to a long-term career in Performance Analysis, and consequently a commitment to attend and complete the MSc at Middlesex University (the in person course is typically taught on-campus however depending on government restrictions, a blended learning approach to learning may be utilised i.e. a mix of both online and face to face).Essential

This studentship is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check, which will be carried out by GB/ENG Hockey.
