COLTS LEAD COACH
Reading Reading HC, Sonning Lane RG4 6STWe are looking for a talented, experienced and enthusiastic hockey coaches to join our team at Reading Hockey. We are looking for someone to work within our Colts Programme to co-ordinate and lead the coaching for a key age group. Availability for both mid-week sessions and Sunday fixtures/training is essential. This role could be combined with other hours across multiple age groups to create a larger package for the right candidate.
Role: Age Group Lead Coach
Purpose: To provide coaching to players across the age group and co-ordinate the running of the age group
Reporting to: Head of Colts Coaching
Hours: Minimum 3 per week, additional hours available to be discussed with candidate.
The main duties and responsibilities of the Hockey Coach are as follows (this list is not exhaustive):
- To provide hockey coaching to groups and teams at days and times as agreed with the Head of Colts Coaching
- To plan and lead the development of all players within the age group
- To provide the Head of Colts Coaching with information as required in relation to the progress of individuals and teams
- To undertake any administrative work required
- To prepare pupils for competitions/matches (as appropriate)
- To attend matches or other fixtures, as agreed with the Head of Colts Coaching
- To act in a professional manner, maintaining good order among children and safeguarding their health and safety
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children according to club policies and procedures
- To assist with any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Colts Coaching
Qualifications (essential)
- Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Hockey or EH Sessional Coach Award (or willingness to complete one ASAP)
- First Aid Certificate
- Safeguarding & Protecting Children Certificate (UK Coaching not EH Online Award)
- DBS enhanced check (or prepared to undergo one)
Experience & Knowledge required
- Experience of working in a successful club colts programme
- Experience of planning and leading sessions and programmes
- Experience of coaching performance level players at a high level
- High level playing background (desirable)
- Knowledge of video analysis and application to colts players (desirable)
- Full driving licence (desirable)
- Experience of coaching multiple age groups (desirable)
