England Hockey strives to ensure that our game is played, watched, delivered, governed and enjoyed by all. We are committed to the principles of fair treatment for everyone, embracing differences and creating a culture where everyone is welcome.
We want to embed equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) into everything we do, and we recognise there are areas we must improve on. However, the hockey community is already undertaking great work to make our sport more diverse and inclusive. From engaging with local schools to widen access, providing opportunities for our Flyerz families, to whole heartedly supporting and welcoming people from the LGBTQ+ community. We want to capture all this great work and showcase it to others as real-life examples of what is possible and ignite a desire in others to follow.
We are especially keen to hear from the hockey community around three themes;
- Ways clubs/organisations have embedded ED&I into their structure / activity
- How clubs/organisations have engaged new audiences / participants / communities?
- How clubs/organisations have engaged their membership around ED&I?

To support you, the follow definitions of equality, diversity and inclusion are used for this project
Equality in sport is about fairness, equality of access to opportunities, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about evolving the culture and structure of hockey to ensure that it becomes equally accessible to all members of society, whatever their age, gender identity, ability, race, religion/belief, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, social status or sexual orientation.
Diversity is about acknowledging and celebrating the differences between groups of people and between individuals, and providing the right support to ensure equality of access to opportunities.
Inclusion is about providing inclusive experiences for everyone, no matter what their background or needs are.
