He then played in his first major tournament at the 2011 Champions Trophy in New Zealand and has since become one of the finest ‘keepers this country has seen.

Having been a reserve for London 2012, George stepped out onto the pitch at an Olympics for the first time t in 2016 having been named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the Champions Trophy just a few weeks before.

George was appointed as co-captain of the England and Great Britain sides in 2017 and 2018, leading the former to European and Commonwealth bronze medals as well as a fourth-placed finish at the 2018 World Cup. He was also shortlisted for the FIH World Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2014, 2017 and 2018.

A very well liked and respected member of the team, George is also a huge advocate of raising money for charitable causes – regularly taking part in ‘Movember’ – and, if he isn’t playing, can always be found cheering on his wife Jo Hunter from the sidelines.
