Whilst the Junior Hockey Framework aims to improve the provision of hockey across all environments, the traditional place to play the sport is withing our club network. We have approximately 400 clubs spread around the country with fantastic junior sections.
Junior hockey in clubs caters for players of mixed ability, experience and gender, and aims to introduce hockey in a fun and safe environment. Through the Junior Hockey Framework, our qualified and accredited club coaches will be using age-appropriate activities aligned with player development principles, meaning that the children will have engaging sessions that build their confidence, on and off the field.
Playing hockey is a great way to meet new friends and get active. Anyone can pick up a stick and play the game, regardless of previous hockey experience.
Most clubs compete in friendly age-related competitions and enter teams in local tournaments and festivals. The exact nature of activity within the club varies depending on the size of the club, the facilities and the deliverers they have.
