Joe Sharp

England Hockey is pleased to announce that Joe Sharp, a member of the England Hockey Under 18 boys squad, is expected to make a full recovery after being hit on the head while playing for England in the EuroHockey Youth Nations Championships in the Netherlands this week.

Joe, of Belper Hockey Club, was injured during the match between England under 18 boys and Belgium on Wednesday and received medical attention on the pitch before being taken to UMC Utrecht hospital.  He has spent the past few days recovering at UMC Utrecht and will remain there over the weekend.  It is hoped that he will be able to return to the UK in the coming days.

Thankfully, incidents such as this are very rare in hockey and the England Hockey wishes to put on record its gratitude to those people who have treated Joe.

While the team has continued to compete at the EuroHockey Youth Nations Championships, this has been a difficult time for all those connected with the squad.  The thoughts of everyone at the England Hockey are with Joe, his parents Jackie and Jerry and their family, and his teammates.  The England Hockey wishes Joe a swift and complete recovery.
