Depending on the ability level and age of players there are opportunities for schools to get involved in festivals and competitions.
A helpful Festival Guidance document is available to download (please see 'further support' on right-hand side) and provides advice and guidance on how to organise Hockey Heroes, Quicksticks or In2 festivals. It includes a step-by-step guide, suggested pitch layouts, and useful checklists for pre-event, on the day, and post-event.
Also available are templates which accompany the overall guide. These templates cover everything you need to plan, organise and deliver festivals and are available from the Hockey Hub.
The School Games is a programme designed to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.
The School Games consists of four unique types of competition:
- Intra-School Competition
- Local Inter-School Competition
- County Final
- School Games National Finals
Hockey is an established part of school games activity in many parts of the country. School Games formats can be download by clicking here. These include both inter and intra formats of the game for primary and secondary schools.
England Hockey has successfully introduced tiered Schools Championships. These Championships provide different levels of competitive opportunities for schools. Find all the information about England Hockey School Championships here.
The Super 6s Championships provide a competitive indoor opportunity for Schools boys’ and girls’ sides at Under 16 and Under 18 age groups.
In line with the new Junior Competitions Framework, that has been developed off the back of the AGM resolution, Schools will enter the competitions via their Areas. Depending on the number of entries teams may be required to first play in a County Championships round, with the best teams advancing to the Area Championships.
One team will then qualify from each of the eight Area Championships to take part in the National Championships Finals.
