Safeguarding Training and Education
Who should be doing safeguarding training, what is available and where can it be found?
Ensuring that people who are working or volunteering with young people have the correct level of safeguarding training is very important. While a DBS check can determine whether someone is suitable for a role, having the right training can determine someone's future actions. It also helps to ensure that young people can have the best experience they can in hockey, safe in the knowledge that the people around them have up-to-date training.
Find the Right Safeguarding Training for You
Use this guide to find the training that matches your role:
- For anyone working with under-18s (coaches, parent helpers, volunteers): The Safeguarding Awareness module is your starting point, giving you the foundational knowledge of safeguarding principles.
- For lead coaches, coaches and welfare officers: The Safeguarding in Hockey workshop is compulsory, helping you build a deeper understanding and learn how to proactively create a safe environment.
- For club welfare officers: The Time to Listen workshop is essential for your role, providing vital guidance and skills to effectively manage safeguarding within your club.
