Investec Women's Cup Round Three Draw

University of Birmingham, Investec Women's Cup Winners 2011-2012

The draw has been made for round three of the Investec Women’s Cup with the stand out tie being an all-Investec Premier Division tie between holders University of Birmingham and Clifton. The sides last met in this competition back in 2009, with the students coming out 4-3 winners in a quarter final tie. This season the sides shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the league.

Harrogate’s reward for eliminating Northampton Saints is a trip to eight time winners of the Cup Bowdon Hightown, who eased their way into round three with a 5-0 win at Team Bath Buccaneers. Bedford Town, one of three non-Investec Women’s Hockey League teams left in the Cup, have been drawn at home to Wimbledon with Teddington facing a home tie against Chelmsford.

Two sides currently top of their Investec Women’s League Conferences come head to head with Beeston hosting Buckingham. The last time the two sides met was in the Investec Women’s League promotion tournament at the end of last season where they drew 1-1.

Brooklands Poynton travel to Liverpool Sefton in what will be another tie with two sides from the same league. Earlier this season, Brooklands Poynton cruised to a 5-0 victory against their league counterparts. Elsewhere, high flying Sutton Coldfield travel to Cannock in a local derby with Bristol Firebrands drawn away at Sevenoaks.
