Reading on verge of semi final spot

Simon Mantell, Reading - 450

Simon Mantell all but ensured Reading’s passage to the semi finals of the Maxifuel Super Sixes Championships at Wembley with two scintillating performances in the Men’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Right from the first minute of the first game, it was clear that Simon was in top form as he struck almost immediately from the start of the game.

Two minutes later he doubled his tally and it was already looking a long way back for Doncaster. He went on to add two more goals and his brother Richard chipped in with a brace himself to force a 7-1 victory.

Reading were unbeaten going into today’s action and they held on to their superb record with a second resounding win.

This time it was Bowdon who felt the force as Simon Mantell raced to a hat-trick inside 23 minutes before adding a fourth on the half hour mark to take his personal tally to eight for the day.

Although it is mathematically possible for Reading to finish out of the top four, it would take an incredible turn of events to force them out.

Canterbury were the form team of the day scoring an incredible 19 goals, with nine of them coming against second-placed Beeston in a shock 9-3 win.

After Ben Allberry scored four in a 10-5 crushing of Surbiton, they faced unbeaten Beeston and hit top form to put themselves level on points. Devohn Teixeira was the architect of the victory, matching Allberry’s feat with four strikes.

Beeston’s other game ended in a thrilling 7-7 draw with East Grinstead who are just a point behind Canterbury and Beeston in the table. Ashley Jackson and Simon Egerton both grabbed hat-tricks.
