Home Nations International Tournament 2016

This, the 10th year of Women Masters' Home Nations since its inception, was a very special occasion, with the staging of the Inaugural Women’s Home Nations Ov60s event between England and Scotland, at which England showed their class by wining both games convincingly, to take the Caledonian Cup.

In the other age groups the England Hockey Women again took the honours in almost all the age categories.  It was only the O40s Women narrowly missing out to Ireland by 1 pt.

After an exciting and closely fought contest, the one goal of the game came against the run of play and then stoic defending by Tara Brown ( ex- Ireland Senior keeper), who clearly showed her International pedigree by thwarting the English Women’s waves of attacks on her goal.

The 045 & 055s both led their respective age groups with abundances of goals in each of their games, confirming their hold on their respective age groups. England Women's 050s came back with determination and commitment after losing their title to the Irish 50s last year, to reclaim their crown with all out attacking hockey.

The standard of play in the Home Nations year on year, as each country looks to develop its master’s programme, is forever going upwards with many games now being closely fought and only on occasions one goal separating the teams.

Next year Ireland look to welcome the Tournament.

The 050s finished their campaign by defeating Scotland 4 - 2 to claim gold.

Ali Glazier manager of the England O40s reflected on their final game -

'The final game for the 45's today saw England beat Scotland 4:0. Goal scorers were Sarah Bamfield 1, Marie James 1 , Carole Quill and Fran Crossly . Great challenge from Scotland in well contested and entertaining game . England women's 045's retain their title . Congratulations and well done to all members of the well supported squad. Thank you for a superb tournament Scottish Hockey.'
