Ballot Stories: Travelling from abroad

Dutch fans at World League

A home World Cup and passionate home support go hand in hand but it won’t just be England fans watching the action in London as fans fly over from across the globe.

Having recently seen both his men’s and women’s national teams win European Gold on home soil, Klaas Schutte is hoping for tickets to take his daughter to see Pure Hockey Gold in London next summer.

Klaas said: “My daughter Nikki is 14 years old and is a hockey player herself. She plays for a local team called de Kikkers (The Frogs) in a youth team outside Amsterdam.

“If I get awarded tickets in the ballot and team Netherlands progresses through the first round it would be a great summer holiday for her!

“When I noticed the advertising for the World Cup 2018 in London last week in the Wagener Stadium I thought that was a chance for ‘revenge’!

“She has been attending several matches of the Euro Championships recently played in Amstelveen. She is also a big fan of our national team!”

This wouldn’t be the first visit to Olympic Park for Klaas though who was able to take in the Hockey during the London Olympics in 2012.

“I used to work and live in London and signed up for tickets for the Olympics. At the time I was only awarded one ticket for the 3 games I subscribed to but I ended up going on my own and had a great time.

“I even managed to see both the men’s and women’s finals!”
