We are proud to support this year's Stonewall's Rainbow Lace campaign

Rainbow laces 2017
England Hockey is proud to support Stonewall Rainbow laces campaign that will be taking place from 24 November - 3 December.

Over half of our national premier divison teams and umpires will be wearing a rainbow coloured armband and laces to show their support to the campaign.

In readiness for the week-long celebration, eBay are selling Rainbow Laces throughout November to help fans ‘come out’ in support of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people in sport. Share your support by wearing rainbow laces, socks, armbands – the options are endless.

Fans across all sports will lace up in a mass show of solidarity for LGBT people in sport. According to Stonewall research, almost two-thirds (63 per cent) of sports fans said more should be done to make LGBT people feel accepted in sport.

England and Great Britain Internationalist Susannah Townsend said;
“As an ambassador of the game I am proud that my team mates and I support the Stonewall rainbow laces campaign. In our sport we believe everyone should feel welcome and comfortable on and off the pitch.

"We want to make sure that our sport is inclusive and diverse as possible so everyone has an opportunity to experience our great sport and be part of a team. We want to make hockey everyone’s game.”

Phil Roper, one of the England men's captain said; "Myself and the men's squad are proud to be supporting the Rainbow Lace campaign, helping to promote inclusion, equality and diversity in sport."

"We believe hockey should be somewhere everyone can be themselves and as a team we strongly believe in this."

Both the men’s national prem teams Sevenoaks and Canterbury plus both the umpires will be showing support on Saturday 25 November. Sevenoaks captain
Tim Warrington said; "We, at Sevenoaks Hockey Club, are proud to be a part of the Rainbow Laces campaign.

"We believe hockey’s core values of respect, teamwork and sportsmanship resonate with what is at the heart of this important campaign. Whilst wearing the laces is only a small statement, we want to show our support and help stamp out homophobia in sport."
