England U18 Boys play out two thrilling draws with Scotland

England U18 Boys, July 2017

England's U18 Boys' team were involved in two gripping games against their Scottish counterparts over the weekend of 23-24 June.

Six players found the back of the net over the course of the two games, with plenty of impressive performances as the boys build up towards the European Championships which are being held later this summer.

Game 1 - 23 June

England 4 (2)
Kentwell (FG, 5); Robson (FG, 22); Sofat (FG, 38); Rushmere (PC, 44)

Scotland 4 (1)
McConnell (PS, 16); Moran (PC, 33); Golden (FG, 45); Walker (FG, 48)

This was the first game of the weekend and the first in the run up to the European Championships in a matter of weeks, with the players determined to give their all. They started strongly, scoring well worked field goal early on.

Scotland were determined not to sit back though and soon drew level. The game proved to be back and forth throughout and at times quite physical but both teams played in good spirits, scored regularly and a draw was a good result for their efforts.

Game 2 - 24 June

England 3 (0)
Butler-Fenton (PC, 38); Rushmere (PC, 45); Males (PS, 56)

Scotland 3 (1)
Lochrin (FG, 8); Walker (FG, 39); Golden (PC, 55)

Following on from the first game game both teams were keen to record an win but it was Scotland who started the stronger of the two teams and scored the opening goal.

Again, this was a tough game into which the players put their all, although unfortunately for England this did lead to spending periods of time reduced in numbers. England rallied well even when down to nine and managed to pull back each time Scotland got ahead. Once again, a well fought and deserved draw.
