Hampstead & Westminster and Surbiton discover 2019/20 EHL KO16 opponents

Hampstead & Westminster v Surbiton 2019 League Finals

Hampstead & Westminster and Surbiton have both been handed tough draws for the 2019/20 EuroHockey League (EHL) KO16.

Reigning Men's Hockey League champions Hampstead & Wesminster will take on HGC of The Netherlands, while Surbiton face Real Club de Polo of Spain.

Both of those games will take place on 4 October out in Barcelona before they will either play a quarter-final game on Sunday 6 October or a ranking game the day before.

Hampstead & Westminster will be making their first appearance in the competition having qualified after beating Surbiton in an exciting final back in April. Their opponents are appearing for the first time since winning the competition back in 2010/11, having beaten Amsterdam to qualify.

If Hampstead overcome a team that includes current Netherlands captain Seve van Ass they will either face last year's bronze medalists Mannheimer HC of Germany or France's CA Montrogue in the quarter-final.

For Surbiton they will be hoping to reach the last eight for the final time, having been cruelly knocked out in the round of 16 by eventual champions Waterloo Ducks in a shootout last year.

Their opponents will offer them another stern test, with Real Club de Polo having finished fourth last year. The winners of that tie will either face Dinamo Kazan from Russia or current French domestic champions Saint Germain HA.
