Victories for Exmouth College & Stonar in U14 T3 Girls' Schools Championships

U14 South West Tournament - web
Exmouth Community College went an entire day unbeaten as they won the first of four EH Girls' U14 Tier 3 Schools Championships being held in the south west this season.

With the tournament taking place at Blundell's School on 5 November, they were one of seven teams from Devon who featured alongside the hosts, Cullompton Community College, Newton Abbot College, Holsworthy Community College, West Buckland School and Kingsbridge Community College.

Exmouth won five of their six games in the round robin tournament to take the title, although there were many fiercely contested matches throughout the day.

Blundell's were fantastic hosts and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

Stonar School then took victory in the second tournament held at Warminster School in Wiltshire on 14 November.

It was another hotly contested event between four schools - Stonar, Sexey's School, Warminster and Royal Wootton Bassett Academy - that saw the eventual winners decided in the very last game.

This was contested between Stonar and Sexey's, with both knowing victory could see them finish top and take home the trophy.

And despite Sexey's twice taking the lead, Stonar fought back to claim a 2-2 draw that was enough for them to take victory by virtue of goals scored (as both teams finished level on points and goal difference).

However the Player of the Tournament was surely the Wootton Bassett goalkeeper who, despite never playing in goal previously, made several fantastic saves.

Many thanks to the staff at Warminster for hosting a great tournament, providing some young umpires and helping with equipment.
