Beeston saw off the French on Friday, Reading blasted the Belarusians, and East Grinstead triumphed over the Scots on Saturday.

The three english teams amassed an impressive 18 goals between them in the opening matches in Terassa. Beeston were first through, with a  3-2 win against CA Montrougue, putting in a solid performance to qualify. They welcomed back Ali Wilson and Adam Dixon from England duty in Delhi, and saw Dixon on the scoreboard.

Reading, with Richard Mantell, Simon Mantell and Ian Mackay back in the ranks defeated SC Stroitel Brest by seven goals to two. Simon Mantell netting two and the other five goals shared amongst his team mates, including brother Richard.

East Grinstead were sure to challenge Kelburne, however an organised Kelburne had held The Polo Club to a 2-2 draw the day before, which could have rattled the Sussex club. With Ashley Jackson and Glenn Kirkham back in the fold, along with Scottish and South African players Niall Stott and Gareth Carr, EG saw no threat and brushed the Scots aside 8-1.

All three teams qualified with a game to still play, and will no doubt use the opportunity to prepare against the best in Europe. The next round of the EHL will take place next spring, where there are now great hopes to see english teams make it to the final four in May.
