Cannock’s slim chances of making the play-offs in the Men’s Hockey League Premier Division were dashed as they lost 3-2 to Canterbury.

Dan Coultas put Cannock into the lead with just eight minutes on the clock but Nat Joy soon equalised for the visitors. With the score at 2-2 going into the last few minutes of the game, Canterbury ended on a high after Michael Farrer (pictured) slotted home the winning goal.

The win sees Canterbury finish in third and they will now go into the play-offs along with Beeston, Surbiton and Reading.

Sheffield Hallam will go into the promotion play-offs after topping the league by one point, thanks to a 6-0 victory over Bowdon. Phil Roper was on target twice in the rearranged fixture.
