There's just one week left to go until the Investec London Cup hits Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. While there will be a wealth of talent on show in every team that's taking part, we've picked out four players from the women's squads we think you should look out for.

From 9-13 July, eight national teams will be battling it out at the new Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre for the Investec London Cup. Eight teams means 144 players could appear on the pitch during the week, so we've narrowed it down to one player per team who we think will impress over the course of the week.

England - Lily Owsley

Lily Owsley, 19, was frequently singled out by the commentators at the Rabobank Hockey World Cup for her enthusiasm and energy levels on the field, frequently harrowing her opponent’s circles and hunting for that goal opportunity. If she gets those chances at the Investec London Cup, expect her name to appear on the scoresheet more than once.

Scotland - Nikki Kidd

Nikki Kidd, 26, was ranked third in the Investec Women’s Hockey League Premier Division last season with an impressive 12 goals. She’s a consistent high-scorer on the international scene, and her penalty corners are something to fear – keep an eye out for her at the top of the circle whenever one is awarded.

South Africa - Marsha Cox

South Africa Captain Marsha Cox, 31, has amassed a huge 332 caps over the course of her international career, and she's showing no signs of slowing down yet. Look out for her level-headed experience on the field - she's more than familiar with playing on the international stage! Special mention also goes to Shelley Russell and Dirkie Chamberlain, who have been playing in English teams for several years and will be familiar with what the England women might come up with.

Wales - Abi Welsford

Abi Welsford, 33, is one of the longest standing members of Wales’ national squad, with 86 international matches played since her debut in 2003. Wales Team Captain, Abi is also one of the ten Welsh international players who play for Swansea City in the Investec Women’s Hockey League Conference West, so she knows how her team moves and how to get the best of them either on the domestic or international stage. She's also got Reading's Leah Wilkinson on her side, so they've got some inside information on some of the players they'll be up against.
