National Flyerz Festival

Flyerz 1

This week over 200 Flyerz players headed to the Copper Box on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to take part in the first national Flyerz Hockey Festival. The festival in conjunction with the European Hockey Championships was fully inclusive and saw Flyerz from across the country come together for a fantastic occasion.

After an energetic group warm up lead by Hockey Makers, the players then took part in a variety of activities including one to one coaching and small sided games. It was great to see players mixing together and supported by a number of spectators.

Andy Haliday, Team Manager of the England and GB Men's hockey team and an advocate of Flyerz Hockey, came along to meet the players. He summed the day up perfectly:

“We're in an Olympic venue and it’s just fantastic to see so many people playing our sport”

Prior to the festival we told you John Willis’s story and we caught up with him and his daughter Sara to hear their thoughts on the day:

John: “This is fantastic. It’s great to see so many people here, it’s great fun with lots of competition going on”.

Sara: “It’s really fun, I’m really enjoying how inclusive it is and everyone is having a great time”.

Following on from the Copper Box, the Flyerz made their way across to the Unibet EuroHockey Championships where they were able to watch some incredible International Hockey, including England women's team beating Germany 4-1.
