Hockey Futures

Developing hockey opportunities for new participants is at the forefront of the England Hockey strategy; supporting ‘Great clubs providing great experiences’ and  to ‘Enable memorable first experiences of hockey that create lifelong advocates’.

Hockey has the opportunity to support local communities in positively impacting on the physical and mental health of people through enjoyment of playing the sport, ultimately helping to develop positive habits and behaviours.

The ‘Hockey Futures Together’ is a partnership between England Hockey and the Areas Associations to support clubs and organisations to deliver hockey locally, increasing opportunities to support healthy lifestyles and habits through the sport, engaging communities that face barriers to accessing sporting opportunities.

Supporting the Kettle® EuroHockey EuroChamps27 Social Impact work and beyond, funding opportunities are available across the Area network, targeted at supporting the below groups of people within our communities:

  • Youth - State Schools that currently do not deliver hockey within curriculum or extra-curricular through after-school clubs
  • Disabilities - People with Disabilities, Impairments or Long-term Health Conditions
  • Community - People from Low Income Households and ethnically Diverse Communities

Through collaboration between England Hockey and the Area Associations, clubs and organisations have the ability to apply for funding in order to deliver hockey outside of regular activity, engaging new people within the sport.
