Team of the Week
Club Hockey is back up and running and that of course also marks the return of England Hockey's Team of the Week!

Up and down the country teams nominate their standout performers every week from all levels of the game.

This week we have some sharp shooters in front of goal and a number of young players starting the season in style!

Name: Maddie James
Club: ISCA
Nominations: Fresh from her NAGs U18 selection, Maddie was player of the match in this West Premier League 1-1 draw opener and then also player of the match for her school team three hours later, winning 2-1.


Name: Peter Walker
Club: Waltham Forest
Nomination: An absolute storming performance at right back with great energy, some sterling tackling and showing real desire and commitment to keep the opposition at bay.

Name: Mathew Jones
Club: Sheffield Bankers
Nomination: Played left back and kept calm under pressure and made vital defensive tackles to stop the opposition from scoring. A key player and a valued member in the team.

Name: Neil Dale
Club: Newcastle
Nomination: Neil played a huge part in winning the match for Newcastle by scoring two drag flicks and influenced the game throughout.


Name: Salman Miah
Club: Tower Hamlets Hockey
Nomination: Played right wing scoring a hat trick and assisting twice in a 10-0 win in his side’s opening league fixtures.

Name: Emily Defroand
Club: Surbiton
Nomination: GB and England’s Defroand was twice on target for reigning champions Surbiton as they began the defence of their Investec Women’s Premier Division title with a 2-0 win at Slough.

Name: Bridie Mason
Club: Horncastle Hockey Club. 
Nomination: 13-year-old Bridie dominated in her first league outing as a centre midfielder and won player of the match. She consistently helped to calmly control the game for the Ladies 1st team with several interceptions and generally an outstanding performance from a youngster who shone during the 4-0 win.

Name: Lauren Skeels
Club: OPM HC
Nomination: Lauren is the youngest player in the OPM Ladies 1st XI. She scored and won player of the match for her relentless running up and down the left wing. Her contribution to the 8-0 win was incredible and to cap it off she is always smiling!


Name: Chris Griffiths
Club: East Grinstead
Nomination: The Great Britain and England man netted twice for his club as EG kicked off their Men’s Hockey League Premier Division campaign with a 4-1 win over the University of Exeter.

Name: Amy Looker
Club: Duchy HC
Nomination: Amy netted twice and claimed an assist in her side’s 5-0 win. A fine way to mark her return from maternity leave, taking her club goals tally to 225!

Name: Robbie Potts
Club: Sunderland HC
Nomination: Robbie netted nine times in one match as Sunderland started their season in style!
