How did Surbiton get to the Finals?

It was a tough start to their Men’s Premier Division campaign for the 2017 champions as they lost their opener 6-2 to Hampstead and Westminster.

But they bounced back emphatically, winning each of their next three games, and carried that momentum throughout the rest of the tournament as they finished second in the group to reach a third consecutive Finals day.

Who will they play in the semi-final?
Surbiton will come up against Sevenoaks in the last semi-final of the day at 14:15, determined to exact revenge on the side that beat them 5-4 in qualification.

Players to watch

Former GB Olympian Niall Stott brings a wealth of experience and skill to this Surbiton side and, with 12 goals from eight qualification games, his presence in front of goal could prove pivotal.

Supported by Arjan Drayton-Chana, who averaged a goal a game during qualification, the pair will be key to Surbiton’s chances of success.

Qualification goal scorers

Alan Forsyth (17), Niall Stott (12), Arjan Drayton-Chana, William Marshall (both 7), Tom Sorsby (4), David Beckett (3), Jonny Gall and David Goodfield (both 1)

Surbiton are the only side to have disrupted East Grinstead’s stranglehold on the Jaffa Super 6s title in the last decade, beating them 12-5 in a thrilling final back in 2017 as Alan Forsyth starred with four goals, including three in just six minutes.
