TalkHockeyRadio Goes Around the Grounds

The October edition of TalkHockeyRadio is now live at

The 2009-2010 England Hockey League season has finally got underway and TalkHockeyRadio was round the Premier Division clubs during September and early October taking soundings from the new clubs and established clubs.

The October 2009 edition of TalkHockeyRadio sees us at Slough where we speak to women’s 1st team captain Fiona Greenham about the failed amalgamation with Surbiton and concerns about the growth of their neighbours at newly promoted Reading. We get to see the other side of the coin with an interview with Reading women’s coach, Simon Letchford.

The two new clubs promoted to the men’s Premier Division had a baptism of fire early in the season.  Brooklands MU went to East Grinstead where they lost 8-5.  We talk to Broolands’ assistant coach, Dave Scanlon, about life in the top flight.

University of Exeter were at star-studded Surbiton in week three, where they went down 6-2.  Their coach, Chris McInroy, gives his views on his side’s prospects.

Whilst at East Grinstead we took the opportunity to talk to player-coach Mark Pearn. The league champions conceding five goals against a newly promoted side? Mark offers an explanation. We also chat to new signing, Scottish and GB international Niall Stott.

At Surbiton, director of hockey Brett Garrard explains the problems of running a team with so many international players.

It’s all in the October edition of TalkHockeyRadio.
