Win Over Bowdon Helps Cannock go Unbeaten

CANNOCK are the only unbeaten team in the Men’s Premier Division after they recorded a 3-2 win over Bowdon on Sunday.

Dave Harris struck twice early on, and Ben Edge added a third goal to help Cannock to a 3-0 half time lead.

Bowdon hit back with goals from Alex Edmonstone and Nigel Croke, but it wasn’t quite enough.

University of Exeter won 4-2 at Southgate, with Ian Haley scoring two of their goals. Others came from Robert Mugridge and Tom Carson, while for Southgate Drew Burkin and Kevin Haigh scored their consolations.

A penalty stroke after 16 minutes from Will Naylor was enough for Hampstead and Westminster beat Reading 1-0 in Saturday's match in the Men's Premier Division.

In the East Conference, leaders Holcombe secured a 4-2 win at Bromley and Beckenham on Saturday with goals from Robert Field, Ryan Ravenscroft, Duncan Parnis and Stephane Vehrle-Smith.

Two goals from Jagdeep Gill helped Indian Gymkhana secure a 4-1 home win over Oxted on Sunday, with their other goals coming from Rajwinder Singh and Frank Di Mercurio.

And Wimbledon won 5-4 at City of Peterborough, with Ben Hawes scoring two of their goals.

With three goals in the final three minutes, the clash had a nail-biting finish, but it was Wimbledon who prevailed.

Teddington and Old Loughtonians battled out a 1-1 draw in their clash on Saturday, with Alex Jennings scoring for the visitors while Calum Giles pulled Teddington back level seven minutes later.

David Matthews scored a hat-trick to help Canterbury win 5-1 at home against Harleston Magpies. The teams were level at 1-1 at the break before Canterbury stepped up a gear to take the win with Matthews’ hat-trick, while other goals came from Nathaniel Joy and Liam Foster.

In the North Conference, Belper secured a dramatic 4-3 win over Preston.

Belper were 2-1 ahead at half time, but Preston battled back to lead 2-3 with five minutes remaining. However, two late goals from Belper saw them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Leek secured a good 4-3 victory at Deeside Ramblers, with Paul Dawson scoring a goal early in each half, while others came from Zachary Sherwani and Daniel O’Neill.

Ali Ghazanfar scored both of Deeside’s goals, but it was not enough to salvage victory.

Goals from Johnny Kinder, Matt Ruxton and Thomas Alsop helped Team Bath Buccaneers beat Bournville 3-2 in the West Conference, with the visitors’ goals coming from Tom Rowland and Jed Kiddle Morris.

And Cardiff & UWIC ensured they remain one of only two unbeaten teams in the West when they won 3-0 at Cheltenham.

Robin Lovegrove scored shortly after half time and others came from Stefan Ray-Hills and Liam Brignull.
