New Summer Coaching Courses Aim to Elevate Standards Across UK Clubs

This summer, developing hockey coaches will have the chance to sharpen their skills and gain formal qualifications as eight Level 2 Certificate in Hockey Coaching courses roll out across the country.

Delivered in a blended format, the courses are designed to help club coaches build practical knowledge and confidence, combining on-pitch sessions with reflective online learning. Whether you’re looking to take your next steps in formal coaching or build on existing experience, this programme offers a valuable development opportunity.

The courses will be led by an expert coaching team, including former England and GB international Ian Sloan and England U16 Girls Assistant Coach Pip Konerth, ensuring participants benefit from real-world insights at the highest level of the game.

The initiative also serves as a key opportunity for coaches and clubs looking to strengthen their coaching foundations and provide the best possible environment for player development.

“We’re excited to offer coaches a chance to learn and develop in an environment that’s grounded in practical delivery but also challenges them to reflect and grow. It’s about building coaches who can create great experiences for players at all levels.” says Stuart Guise, Head of Coaching and People Development at England Hockey.

“Whether you’re overseeing hockey at a club, school, university, or within a talent environment, this course helps you plan and deliver sessions across a season, manage player development over time, and support other coaches effectively. It’s about building confident leaders who can shape a positive and progressive hockey culture.”
