Mary Russell-Vick, 89

It is with great sadness that the England Hockey has to report the death of Mary Russell-Vick who died in hospital yesterday morning, aged 89 after a short illness.

MRV, as she was always known, had a long and distinguished hockey career as a stylish international player who went on to be the All England Women’s Hockey Association President for ten years and then President of Great Britain Hockey.  One of Mary’s proudest moments was when she hosted the Queen at Wembley for the England v Wales International in 1981.

The Times have published a piece about MRV, to read it please click here.

A tribute to Mary appeared in this week’s Sevenoaks Chronicle, please click here to see the article.
