Chris Darling steps down from the Board

At last Tuesday’s AGM (20.03.12) Chris Darling Non-Executive Director (NED), stood down after 9 years on the Board. Chris was one of the original NEDs when the England Hockey was reconstituted in 2003 and had worked on the revised Memorandum and Articles that exist today.

Chris Darling steps down from England Hockey Board

Philip Kimberley Chairman, spoke about Chris’ time on the Board and presented him with some gifts to thank him for his 9 years outstanding service. Philip said, “I have known Chris at Board level for these nine years, but in researching Chris’ hockey background I was staggered at the huge number of roles that he has held at Club, County, Regional, and National level. Warrington and Ben Rhydding Hockey Clubs, Lancashire and Northern Counties at county and regional level, and of course at national level, the Hockey Association before it merged with the AEWHA. And, more recently, his time with England Hockey. It is simply amazing the commitment that Chris has given the sport, and whilst he has stepped down from his England Hockey Board position he will continue with many roles elsewhere, not least of which is as a Trustee of the National Hockey Foundation.”

Philip went on to say “Chris has been an outstanding Board member.  He sees the big picture but his attention to detail is legendary and we have all been picked up by that! His deep knowledge of how the sport works, most notably his recent work on the Single System, has been hugely valuable in the North and at National level. He is diligent, conscientious, committed, and generous with his time and he cares deeply for the sport.  I know that we will all miss him around the Board table very much but hope we can entice him to take on one or two projects in the future.”
