The Hockey Show

There is a definite Olympic blue theme to the April edition of the Hockey Show from TalkHockeyRadio.

The Hockey Show was on the blue pitch at the Olympic Park in March to hear the announcement that England is going to host the 2015 European Championships, and we have an interview with England Hockey Chief Executive Sally Munday in which she tells us about her hopes for the legacy facilities.

EuroHockey Championships 2015 announcement - on the olympic pitch

One of the umpires at the 2012 Olympic hockey tournament will be Marcin Grochal from Poland, but what was he doing umpiring an England Hockey League match at Reading? We find out more.

It’s more blue at Old Loughtonians, who were selected to be the training venue for the 2012 Olympic Hockey Tournament. With it went new blue and pink pitches and improved lighting. Old Loughts captain Jon Brown tells us about playing on an Olympic style pitch and his hopes for the club.

March was a busy month for members of the GB squads, not just training, but meeting royalty and being fashion models as well! We talk to Scotland and GB’s Niall Stott about meeting the Duchess of Cambridge and the suits!

Away from the Olympic theme, Bowdon Hightown won promotion for England in the European Indoor Clubs Trophy by winning silver in Prague. We talk to Bowdon’s Tina Cullen about their success in Prague. It will be Leicester who represent England in Europe indoors in 2013, and we talk to their Vanessa Lines about her reaction to Bowdon gaining the promotion.

Hard Core Hockey? It’s run by hockey coach Amanda Partington and we interview her to find out more.
