Hundreds hear from GB's top coaches

Helen Richardson and Danny Kerry

330 hockey coaches enjoyed a fantastic day in the sun at Bisham Abbey on Thursday as they watched Great Britain's coaches put their teams through their paces for GB Prepares.

A major element of the Hockey Nation programme, GB Prepares saw qualified hockey coaches from England, Scotland and Wales invited to observe and hear from Great Britain's coaches as they took training the the Olympic squads.

As well as watching and hearing from Head Coaches Jason Lee and Danny Kerry and their respective coaching teams, guests attended workshops run by the English Institute of Sport, Polar, Maxifuel, John Trower and Bryan Jones.

The country's hockey coaches will be key to the success of hockey this summer as thousands of people pick up a stick for the first time through the Hockey Nation programme.  An estimated 25,000 adults and young people will be inspired pick up a stick by the Olympic Games.  To ensure there's enough suitable hockey going on to match and harness their inspiration, we need enthusiastic, trained coaches to coach across these programmes starting over the coming weeks and running through the summer.

We’re looking for coaches to help deliver Quicksticks and In2Hockey to kids, Back to Hockey for women and much, much more.
