Harvester National Club Weekend 2012

Harvester National Club Weekend 2012 - Laura Unsworth with fan - Old Sils

Over 300 clubs took part in the Harvester National Club Weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend is about clubs across the country opening their doors and welcoming the community. This year was no exception as early reports show that hundreds of new faces, eager to see what hockey is all about after watching it at the Olympics, sought out their local clubs.  To add to the excitement, the weekend was supported by some very special faces as members of the Great Britain Hockey teams went out and about to show their support for promoting hockey across the nation.

Great Britain Bronze Medallists Sally Walton and Laura Unsworth went back to the Midlands to visit Old Silhillians while teammate Sarah Thomas made the journey to East London to visit Waltham Forest and support the weekend. They were welcomed by hundreds of excited adults and young people who were getting to meet the GB stars for the first time. Some lucky clubs even managed to get their hands on an Olympic Bronze medal and feel for themselves just how heavy they are!

Harvester National Club Weekend 2012 - Goody Bags - Old Sils

As a thank you to all the clubs taking part Hockey Nation goodie bags were sent out and the England Hockey also selected Waltham Forest HC and Old Silhillians HC to receive the Roadshow kitting out experience. Both clubs were delighted to receive the giant inflatable pitch and target goal, along with loads of free goodies to give away to their current and new members.
