All-English clash in EHL KO16 draw

East Grinstead's Ashley Jackson (L) controls the ball in front of Waterloo Ducks' Benjamin Van Hove during their EuroHockey League Round 1.2 game at East Grinstead HC, West Sussex, 28th October 2012.

There’ll be a dramatic all-English clash in the KO16 round of the Euro Hockey League after Beeston and East Grinstead were drawn to play each other.  England’s other representative, the 2011-12 Men’s Hockey League Champions Reading, will take on Dutch side HC Rotterdam in their second round fixture.

The draw guarantees at least one English side will progress to the KO8 round, which forms part of the same EHL weekend running from 29 March to 1 April 2013. The venue for the KO16 and KO8 competition will be announced soon by the Euro Hockey League.

Whoever progresses - Beeston or East Grinstead - they’ll face a tough test in KO8 (the quarter finals) with the victor drawn to face the winner of the HC Bloemendaal (NED) v Club de Campo (ESP) tie. Should Reading beat Rotterdam, who finished fourth last year, they will play the winner of KHC Dragons (BEL) versus Lisnagarvey (IRL), the surprise package of Round 1.2.
