Leicester reach semi finals

Nic White Leicester Indoor- 450

Leicester booked their place in the top four of the Women’s Premier Division with two powerful displays in the thrilling Maxifuel Super Sixes Championships at Bromsgrove School.

They are the only team that can definitely say that they will be competing in the semi-final of the high-octane competition at Kettering next Saturday, although Sutton Coldfield are just two points from securing a place themselves.

Nic White got Leicester’s day off to an explosive start, smashing home after just five minutes of the first game against Olton and West Warwickshire.

Aimee Hone equalised with a penalty stroke soon after but Leicester sparked into life and blew their opponents away, bursting to a 5-1 lead by the break. That is how the match finished.

Slough were their next opponents and have been struggling although they showed no sign of it as they battled to a 2-2 draw. Nic White was on target for Leicester again to secure the point they needed.

Sutton Coldfield were determined to join Leicester in the semis and did as much as they could with two great team displays resulting in six points.

First they beat Canterbury 6-3. Charlotte Cross hit a brace and hot shots Vicky Woolford and Jane Sixsmith were also on target.

It was a hard defeat to take for Canterbury, especially for Sarah Kerly who scored a hat-trick but still found herself on the losing side.

There was yet more to come from Sutton Coldfield however as they upped the ante in the second half of their tie against Reading.

With the score at 2-2 going into the break, Sutton came out on fire in the second half, hitting five goals to win 7-2.

Tomorrow’s showdown starts with Leicester on an unassailable 16 points, Sutton Coldfield on 13 and Bowdon Hightown on 12. Canterbury and Reading are both on nine points.
