League and European fates in the balance for Men's teams

Will Hearne Cannock 450

THREE men’s teams travel to Amsterdam this weekend in search of glory in the European Hockey League. And back in the English Men’s Hockey League there are several crucial matches taking place as teams chase promotion dreams.

Reading take on Rotterdam in the last 16 of the EHL competition on Good Friday, while the other two English teams, Beeston and East Grinstead, will play each other on Saturday morning for a place in the last eight.

Meanwhile, Saturday also sees Cannock play host to Canterbury in the Men’s Hockey League Premier Division, with both sides still hoping for a Championship play-off spot.

Postponed last weekend, the match is one of several rescheduled for this weekend.

With East Grinstead in EHL action their postponed Premier Division game with Southgate has had to be put back until Wednesday 3 April. If Canterbury do not beat Cannock on Saturday, East Grinstead can still clinch a top four place with a win.

In the Conference North, Sheffield Hallam entertain University of Durham. Victory could see them overtake leaders Bowdon who travel to Belper on the same day and give them the title. However, Sheffield Hallam will also need to win their game in hand against relegated Preston tonight.

With the weather still causing issues please keep abreast of any fixture changes on the England Hockey website and Twitter.

Meanwhile, Olton have conceded their game with Khalsa which was postponed on Sunday.
