Cannock Hockey Club plays host to the finals of the National Schools Championships for Girls wit the U16 and U18 finals on Tue/Wed 25th/26th Feburary and the U14s on Thrusday 27th.

All three competitions are run in two stages. Eight qualifiers play in two pools of four and the winning team in each pool qualifies for the final with the runners-up contesting the third place game.

Each of the five regional winners qualify for the finals along with a second team from last season's winners' region. The final two places were deciuded by play-off games between the other four regional runners-up

Two of last season’s champions  - U18 winners Dean Close and U16s  Cranleigh return to defend their crowns. Repton the U14 champions did not qualify but the school are in the U16 and the U18 competitions and will be looking to replicate their outstanding success in winning both indoor titles earlier this year. Dean Close beat them in the 2013 final and of course will be looking to do the same this year. As well as our traditional qualifiers it is also good to see some new faces – Rugby, Eastbourne, Perse and Grammar School at Leeds will al look to make a strong showing on the national stage.
